She walked into the kitchen, in time to hear Jake asking, “Those are all real tattoos, aren’t they?”

Patti was having difficulty breathing, while she stared at J.T.’s muscular, hairy, broad chest. She looked up to see humor in J.T.’s eyes, as if he was reading her thoughts, and finding them amusing.

“I’m really sorry you had to find out this way,” she began.

J.T. shook his head as he turned to look at her.

“Why? There’s no reason for you to tell me about your private life, is there?”

He looked seriously at her.

Patti nodded, “Yes, there is. I do remember enough from my birthday to know there’s unfinished business between us. I feel ridiculous talking about it like this, but you already know how I feel about you, right?”

J.T. regarded her, his light blue eyes intent on her face. “Do I? I thought I did; but now, with your ex in your house again, I guess anything I might have been planning is going to have to be postponed indefinitely.”

Patti looked miserably at him. “You’re not going to leave town on me, are you? I mean, before we get a chance to find out what we’d be like together?”

J.T. carefully put his paintbrush down and walked over to stand in front of Patti. He was so tall, when she was wearing flats she didn’t even come to his shoulders. She looked up expectantly at him and he put one finger under her chin and lifted her face up to look at him. Slowly he bent his face down and his lips lightly brushed hers. One kiss, another kiss, another…then with a groan, Patti melted against him and wound her arms up and around him, pressing herself against his hardness and feeling the danger and excitement of trying to control a man so much bigger than herself.

J.T. groaned too, and used one large hand to fondle her butt, pressing himself into her, so she could feel the length of the hardness she had been imagining for months. He moved his other hand up and down her curves; now holding a breast, now rubbing her hip, then he wound his fingers into her hair and used the two contact points of lips and groin to make her feel his desire. He moved his head slightly. His lips kissed along her face to her ear then to her neck. His tongue licked a trail along the curve of her face to her chin, then he kissed her once more. Reluctantly he moved away from her and smiled at the expectant look on her face.

“Nope,” he said simply, then he turned to go back to his paintbrush.

Trying to catch her breath, Patti stammered, “Couldn’t we have just a little taste right here? In my place? Just to take the edge off for both of us?”

J.T. shook his head. “No, Patricia. I told you on your birthday, I want our first time to be something special. Something we both will always remember. Better than what I have been imagining every night since I met you.”

He smiled at the look of disappointment on her face, “Not that I haven’t had my share of getting down and dirty in public places, but I don’t want to be worrying about someone walking in on us until we get a chance to really enjoy each other. After that, I’ll christen your restaurant with you, in the back kitchen and the front serving area, with and without customers being in the place. I don’t care.”

Patti sighed heavily, “But I can’t ask you to stay over while Jake is in the house, can I?”

I have always been an avid reader. And I have always “written” stories in my head when bored, or occupied with some task that doesn’t involve too much thinking, like baking or driving long distances. I used to think that everyone had characters “talking” to them all of the time. A couple of years ago, I finally decided that my head was getting too “crowded”, and that some of these stories needed to be written down. I feel like once the books are done, those characters are happy to have been heard, and they are quiet. In the meantime, the next group has begun whispering to me, and once I allow them to, their stories unfold in my head also. I am always interested in hearing how their lives progress…I hope you find my characters to be as amusing as I do.
