BOOK SYNOPSIS
This book is filled with images of the most exquisite traditional woodblock-printed paper: a prized art of the Edo style that has been handed down through the generations. This woodblock-printed paper is sometimes used for luncheon mats, book covers, or even to decorate a wall, and it makes an excellent gift that epitomizes Japanese style and attention to detail. The patterns in the book are arranged by season, and many of the uses for the paper are shown in fine examples of origami and other paper crafts. Isetatsu, established in 1864, is now the only manufacturer and retailer of the Edo-style Japanese traditional woodblock-printed paper. More than 1,000 original patterns with great color schemes evoke the idea of freshness in modern design, and its designs carry on the traditional Edo patterns, although they sometimes mingle with modern designs.
