During a dream the Lord of Highgrove Manor, Essex, who possesses a deep knowledge and fascination for ancient history, drops back in time to the year 450AD. When he meets Haesal, a noblewoman he is sent to rescue, Brys knows he has found the lover who has invaded his dreams.

Haesal’s belief in fairy folk and sorcerers helps her to better understand Brys's sudden appearance in her world.

Most Celts have fled to the west of Britain, to evade the Germanic invaders. Brys realizes his mission is to see Haesal and her brother Ginald safely back to their home near Tintagel in Cornwall. The journey is long and hazardous and there are many dangers to be faced, not only on the road, but when they reach their destination.

"This is Brys." Anstred broke the spell that seemed to have wound itself about him and the woman rose gracefully. Barely hesitating, she walked towards him, a slender hand outstretched.

Brys’ gaze roamed over her high cheekbones and perfectly shaped nose and then dropped lower to linger. Her obviously unfettered breasts rose and fell rapidly beneath their soft covering. Her face was pale. He guessed she was frightened, but concealing it well behind a shield of arrogance as her chin went high. Her tentative smile aroused such a strong blast of desire in him that his heartbeat immediately accelerated.

As he took her slender white fingers in his hand, a muscle jerked in his jaw. Searching a mind gone blank for something sensible to say, it hit him--this was why he’d been brought here. Haesal had called to him through time and he’d heeded her summons.

Her wide clear eyes reminded him of pansies, and her sweet mouth was made for kissing. Her facial bones were delicate, her ivory skin peachy smooth.

I have this fascination for a handsome Scot in a kilt, and have no idea where it stems from--perhaps from my Scottish forebears? One of my brothers joined a Highland regiment although we were Londoners, and I know he wore a magnificent tartan kilt for regimental occasions. My Highland Love was one of my most enjoyable writing tasks, as I loved returning to the past and meeting up with Travis again. I fall in love with all of my heroes of course, but Travis holds a special place in my heart. Could one of my past lives have been spent with such a man? Maybe that’s why I couldn’t resist the urge to return to that period
