BOOK REVIEWS
For decades, university theatre/drama programs have taught directing focused solely on the techniques and traditions of the stage. Conversely, TV/Film programs have focused on the technical aspects of directing for film and television but ignored the dynamics of the actor/director relationship so important in the theatre. To prepare the next generation of directors, academic training programs should now focus on the directing skills needed to succeed in theatre, television, and film. Directing for Stage and Screen is a much needed textbook that provides the basic directing tools required in all three areas and should serve as a valuable resource for todays professors as well as future directors. Well balanced and accessible.Nick Reid, San Diego State University
Â
This is a great resource for undergraduate students in both theatre and film. This text provides a really clear and comprehensive guide for the practical aspects of Theatre/film/TV. It is for people who want to get jobs, and those who want to know how it is done in the real world.Linda Donahue, Texas Tech University
