BOOK SYNOPSIS
Say hello to Audrey and Camille, the Gris Gris Sisters. This delightful story written by Jo Englerth, and illustrated by Bonnie Camos, tells of the debut of the "Basin Babes" and the discovery of their magical talents and comical antics. As they make their way from deep in the French Quarter of New Orleans, to the Atchafalaya. Basin, to the streets of Lafayette where they "crash" the Mardi Gras parade. They spread their Joie de Vivre to everyone they meet!

Tout d'un coup, the music stopped! The Creole Queen was startled out of her dance trance by an alarming noise!
"BEEP...BEEP...BEEP We interrupt this program to bring you an emergency weather bulletin! A HURRICANE has mysteriously formed at the mouth of the Mississipi River. This is a very strong storm, and it is headed straight for the city of New Orleans. Please find shelter immediately. There is no time to waste!"
A hurricane! The Creole Queen was delighted, for it had been much too long since the last one! She must plan a hurricane party! She grabbed the telephone and began to dial...
"Ma-Ree!'she shrieked. "You heard de news? we got us a real live HURRICANE, cher! I'm gonna hrow de biggest party de French Quarter ever saw, girl! Gotta hurry though...it's comin' fast!"

Bonnie Camos brings a vibrant energy to her work that is expressed in the colorful images she creates. She is best known for her acrylic paintings of the people and places of Southwest Louisiana. Whether capturing a pastoral scene on canvas or creating whimsical characters, Camos' work always engages the viewer. She is a member of the Louisiana Crafts Guild and was an official artist for "The Pelicans on Parade" project in Lafayette, LA in 2002. Her paintings are a reflection of her love of life spiced with a dash of humor and a heaping dose of color!
